the founderHonoring Diane
With great sadness, we share that Diane Mayer, founder and heart of White Feather Farm, has passed from this life.
For many years, Diane poured herself into this land and into the people and animals who found their way here.
White Feather Farm was never simply a place to her. It was a place of relationship — between people and animals, between ourselves and the natural world, and between life, loss, healing and transformation.
Diane believed deeply that animals and nature had something to teach us if we were willing to become quiet enough to listen. Through her work with animals, healing, water, ritual, education, death and grief, she created a place where countless people were invited to slow down, reconnect and see the world — and often themselves — a little differently.
Her presence is woven into this land.
To everyone who walked these woods, sat beside the stream, gathered around a fire, brought an animal here, attended a workshop, volunteered, learned, laughed, cried, celebrated, or simply spent a quiet moment at White Feather: thank you.
You were part of Diane’s life and part of the story of this farm.
All of us at White Feather Farm are enormously grateful for the friendship, kindness, generosity and love that surrounded Diane and this special place over the years, and especially during her final chapter.
What Comes Next
For now, White Feather Farm will become quiet.
There is no need to immediately decide what comes next.
This is a time for all of us to grieve Diane, to honor everything she created, and to allow space for reflection.
The farm will remain cared for and loved while we take the time necessary to listen, reflect and consider what the next chapter of White Feather Farm might become. It is also a time for Rob to rediscover his own passions and consider where this next chapter of his life may lead.
Diane spent much of her life believing that endings and beginnings were connected — that even in loss, something new eventually asks to emerge.
Perhaps that is where White Feather, and all of us who love it, find ourselves now.
The next chapter has not yet been written.
When the time is right, we will share more.
Until then, thank you for loving Diane, for loving this land, and for being part of White Feather Farm.
With gratitude,
Rob and the White Feather Farm Team
